This clan was born of the original US 1st Armored Division clan around 4 years ago. Originally a CoD clan, it progressed on to CoD-UO which was its principal game for most of the clan's existence. Originally set up as a European Company within 1st Armored Division, the then leader of the clan was approached by a number of European clan members, notably Smokie, Jaz and Monk, who put it to him that there were enough Europeans in the clan to create a European arm. The idea was implemented and so began the 1st Armored European Division. Smokie and Jaz were given the roles of XO or Executive Officer with Monk and a couple of others as HQ members and an American admin to oversee the running of the website. However, things did not initially run smoothly as the admin began to take overall control, effectively undermining our XOs. Things eventually came to a head and the admin was removed. Now we had full control over our own destiny... or so we thought...

We had our own website and servers and we branched out into BF2. Things were running well for us until one night a member of HQ (who was very drunk) who had his own axe to grind made several unfounded accusations about Smokie, Jaz and other HQ members to the leader of the US 1stAD. The next day the clan awoke to find that our website had been taken over by the US Division's leader and that we had been living under the illusion of self determination. Our website had been set up by the US clan and they maintained overall control of it. We were effectively closed down. However, Angelus ( V ) began a dialogue with the Americans and convinced them that the accusations made were false. Control of the website was returned to us and the HQ member who started it all resigned. Angelus also realised that we had to protect ourselves from this ever happening again and within a couple of weeks he created a new website for the European Division on his own webspace. He notified the Americans that we had a new website and that we would still remain as a part of the main clan, explaining the reasons for the new site. This did not go down well and we were told that we were no longer part of 1stAD. HQ insisted on keeping the name 1st Armoured Division (spelled correctly now) and thus the truly independent European 1stAD was born. Over time links with the US 1stAD were restored but the Europeans have maintained their independence.

Over our existence we've been involved in a number of games, CoD-UO, BF1942, BF2, BF2142, Team Fortress 2, IL2 Sturmovik 1946 and now have moved on to CoD4 and CoD WaW. We run servers for CoD4 and CoD WaW (S&D & custom maps - all HardCore). We currently only play CoD4 S&D competitively and have an excellent core of players for the team led by Bish. IPs for our servers can be found on the front page of the site.

The first I have read about the details regarding the maiden voyage. I remember the hub-bub and remember the ire on both sides. All I can say is that anytime a separation is made, it is never easy. With the group of people heading up your group and the types of people you have, I'd have to say you had awesome chances of making it fly.

Three cheers to your group!

It's a credit to your efforts and a testiment to your persistence.

drunk

Rock on!

Cool
